About the club
The First Saturday Club started the way most honest things do: with a guy noticing he'd said “we should really do something this weekend” about forty times without ever doing something this weekend.
The problem was never wanting to. The problem was that starting anything with your kid is a research project — what hobby, which gear, from where, and then you have to know how to do the thing, in front of a small person who believes you know everything. The couch asks for none of that. So the couch wins by default, Saturday after Saturday, and the years those Saturdays live in are not the ones that come back.
The club exists to delete the research project.
A two-minute quiz matches you and your kid — their wiring, your real life — to one of nine hobby tracks. The kit gets found for you, live, from real US merchants. And the Field Guide scripts your first three sessions like a friend who did it last weekend: what to set up before the kid walks in, which jobs to hand over, and exactly what to say when the nail bends or nothing's biting. You're never the guy reading instructions in front of his kid. You're the guy who already read them.
The badges
Nine tracks, nine merit badges — the Stargazers to the Clay Crew, workshop to watercolor. You earn one by finishing a track's three sessions, and you earn it the only way badges have ever meant anything: by showing up. There's no login and no gamified streak guilt. There's a kid who knows which badges you two have and which one is next, which is a better retention system than anything we could code.

- The kid is the client.Every session one is engineered to end with a kid who asks to do it again. That's the entire KPI.
