What this site is
First Saturday matches you and your kid to a hobby and recommends starter gear sold by independent merchants. We are a recommendation and content service — we do not sell, ship, or warrant the products. Your purchase contract is with the merchant whose store you check out on, under their terms, prices, and return policies.
Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links are affiliate links: if you buy, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Recommendations are generated by our matching system against the live catalog — merchants cannot pay to be placed in a kit.
Safety and common sense
Field Guides describe activities — tools, water, open flame, late nights — that require an adult's judgment. You know your kid; you supervise; you decide what's age-appropriate. Guides are suggestions from people who write copy, not safety certifications.
Our content
The Field Guides, articles, badges, and matching system are ours (or licensed to us). Personal, non-commercial use is what they're for — print the guides, share your badge anywhere. Scraping the site or republishing the guides commercially isn't.
No guarantees, plainly
The service is provided “as is.” We work hard on the matching, but we can't guarantee your kid loves fishing, that a merchant ships on time, or that the site is never down on a Saturday morning. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to $50 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater.
