The Blind Contour Game
Two chairs facing each other, one pencil each, sketchbooks open. The rules of blind contour: eyes on the subject, never the page, and the pencil never lifts. Draw each other — three minutes each. The results look like haunted spaghetti and that is the point: it is impossible to be good at this, which means nobody is bad at it. You’ll both be laughing by round two. Round three: draw the kid’s shoe, the dog, the saltshaker. Sign and date every page. Close the books. That’s session one — the habit of opening the book beat the fear of the blank page, and that was the entire mission.
